Gotham Animated Episode 48 - Terror In The Sky

We're back! And this time 'round, the Dark Knight duels with a terrifying She-Bat on the streets and in the skies above Gotham City. Dr. March can't seem to stop dabbling in bat-mutagen and accidents happen so . . . here we are. This episode actually surprised us and the relationship between Kirk and Francine Langstrom is handled pretty well. This one'a a sleeper hit.

Lost in the Reels No. 5 - The King of Kong

What does it take to be the best? A middle school teacher takes on a hot sauce tyrant in the arcade classic Donkey Kong for a piece of temporary immortality on Twin Galaxies' leader boards. This documentary is a modern classic and an interesting look at the gate-keeping and tomfoolery that surrounds any subculture, in this case, arcade gaming.

Batman's dark rival returns in this hard-hitting action-packed episode that also introduces us to Bruce Wayne's sensei. The battle between good and evil burns like a raging volcano! This one was surprisingly good, especially after Night of the Ninja's action left us wanting.

Shapeshift! Nose to the wind! This week, the Dark Knight deals with a pro athlete who takes one short cut too many on his way to the top and runs afoul of former Bat-Foe Dr. Milo! Gotham Animated Episode 44 - Joker's Wild

When casino kingpin Cameron Kaiser steals the Joker's likeness for his newest business venture, the Clown Prince of Crime busts out of Arkham to ruffle his feathers. And blow up his building. This one is a tough sit, but the Gotham Animated gang find some interesting bits to discuss. Mark Hamill's performance saves what would be a total dud of an episode. And the stupid Bat-Glider is back. I hate it. It's stupid.

Gotham Animated Presents: Lost in the Reels No. 3 - Raising Arizona

In 1987, those crazy Coens crafted one of the most unique comedies ever committed to celluloid, Raising Arizona. Starring Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, Trey Wilson, and John Goodman, this tale mixes themes of recidivism and pre-natal anxiety with crime fiction and southern gothic tropes into a whimsical and somehow simultaneously mythological masterpiece. Don't curse the darkness, instead light a candle with us as we rip this film limb from limb and try to find our own razon deetra.

Selena's cat Isis may be the next victim and her creepy stalker ex (Batman) may be the only help she can get. One of our heroes goes down the for the count and another finds their self on thin ice, literally!

The Caped Crusader takes a break from staking out health spas and dousing the inferno of crime with lobster bisque to deal with a ninja! That's right, there's an honest-to-Croc, shuriken-chucking, gas pellet-abusing ninja on the loose. We also get a brief glimpse into Bruce Wayne's training and a very subtle hint at the coming split between Batman and Robin. Also: Is Summer Gleason a love interest or a bird of some kind? Gotham Animated Presents: Lost in the Reels No. 2 - Green Room

Chris B and Abel Z must endure Evan A's movie selection this time around, the 2015 thriller Green Room, written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier and starring the late Anton Yelchin as a punk rocker pitted against a white nationalist drug lord named Darcy played by Patrick Sewart. That's right, this cinematic kill box has a ton of Trek connections, as well as a lot to say about the creeping pandemic of white skinhead hate speech seeping into the back doors of the punk scene. Our discussion runs the gamut from observations and feelings about the film to terrifying tales of bodily harm--we know what scares us, but what makes us wince?

Gotham Animated Episode 36 - Robin's Reckoning Part Two

Dick Grayson was just a boy when his parents were taken from him by a two-bit hood named Tony Zucco. Now Lil' Dickie is Big Dickie and Zucco's about to learn it isn't as easy to push around a grown-ass man. Robin learns the difference between Justice and Revenge on this latest and greatest edition of GOTHAM ANIMATED!

(Editor's Note: We had some laptop issues while recording, so a little piece of the conversation in the last third of the episode was lost.
